An engineer sees a yard differently
I've spent my career reading site plans and walking construction sites, learning to look at a piece of land and see what it can hold. Small gardens ask for the same kind of looking. I don't have much space, but I have a plan for every square foot of it.
My father started this
Every spring he and I sat down and planned the yard together, what did well, what we'd try next, what he wanted to be eating in August. Other families bond over sports. We bonded over where the tomatoes should go.
My father, who taught me everything I know about growing vegetables.
I wanted to know where my food was coming from
When my husband passed from cancer, eating whole, real food stopped being an idea and became something I felt in my bones. The garden was already there, waiting. After that, it mattered differently.
Then everyone started asking
Every summer I sent friends home with bags of tomatoes, and every summer the same questions came back. How much sun? When do I plant it? Why doesn't mine do that? This site is those answers, finally written down.
